Curry Suffers Head Injury In loss to Houston

A nightmare was averted for the Golden State Warriors on their quest to the NBA Finals.

In the 128 – 115 Monday night loss to the Houston Rockets, Stephen Curry suffered a head contusion that was quite a scary fall.  After the injury, the feeling of the home crowd in Houston changed to almost a somber tone.

He appeared to hit the floor quite hard after the fall in which he braced with his left arm before landing on his head and upper back.  Afterwards, Curry remained face-down on the court with his hands covering his head.

Despite appearing to have not moved for a matter of minutes, Curry was able to walk to the locker room under his own power.  Camera shots of his family showed that they were clearly distressed as well.

Fortunately for Curry and the Warriors, concussion protocol showed that his injury was not severe.  Curry should be ready to play for game 5, and he was able to return later in the game even though he seemed slightly shaken.

Curry, who finished with 23 points, said in a postgame press conference that he was “still kind of in shock from the feeling of falling.”  The fall occurred after Curry got caught in the air after a pump fake by Houston’s Trevor Ariza.

Viewers of them game through television witnessed replays of the startling fall numerous times.  Then suddenly, Curry could be seen running springs in the hallway before his surprising return to the court.

Curry suffered a concussion in November 2013 in which he missed a game, but he was fortunate to not have suffered a more serious injury this time.

Despite Curry’s offensive contributions, the Warriors were unable to come back from their early deficit.  Golden State still has a 3-1 series lead over Houston, and game 5 will occur on May 27th in Oakland.
